CA$225.00
Original M1890 Mauser rifle bayonets with 18-inch blades were shortened to 10-inch standard length of WW2 Germany. The long, original 1890 bayonets were manufactured in Germany by Solingen companies and given to the Ottoman Empire as allies of Imperial Germany. Converted to short configuration around 1935. Pommel marked AS.FA for Askari Fabrika (military factory). No Turkish script indicating that this bayonet was converted after Kemal Ataturk’s replacement of the Turkish alphabet with Latin based alphabet in 1929. Bright blade with fuller running off the end of the blade. Star and moon markings visible on spine of blade and crossguard. Full hooked quillon. Steel scabbard shows many dents from issue and use. Bayonet fits in spite of dents. Historically interesting bayonet.
