Second pattern, newer model or n/A (neuer Art) with two piece wooden grip. Made to fit the GEW 98 World War One German infantry rifle. Arsenal made at Erfurt. Crossguard does not have any regimentally markings, which is unusual. Interesting pipeback/quillback style blade in very good condition with numerous small dings on the unsharpened blade side.. Steel scabbard is in very good condition with much black paint remaining.
