Austrian Werndl-Holub Model of 1867 Rifle

CA$1,995.00
Original 1867 model with external hammer mounted to lock plate. Drum action breech loading single shot rifle used by Austro-Hungarian military into the 20th Century and even issued to rear echelon troops during WW1. Rear sight is original graduation of 1400 so very likely this rifle is in the original chambering of 11.15×42R. Barrel length 33 inches, overall length 50 ¼ inches. Bore is remarkably good with strong rifling. Stock has 2 barrel bands and nose cap with no provision for cleaning rod. Lock plate marked .OASSER with 3 digit date 868 for 1868 year of manufacture. Steel butt plate tang marked 56.L over 129, possibly 56th Landwehr Regiment Rifle number 129. Sear mechanism is weak, no firing pin or spring. Small screw at front of lock plate is a replacement. Very interesting example of the evolution of firearm design in the late 19th Century and quite researchable.
