Original Mk III Cavalry Carbine, .577 Snider, 19 inch STEEL barrel. Lock clearly marked Crown/VR, Enfield 1870 dated. War Department stamps and proof marks throughout. WD Enfield stock cartouche is faint. Bore is very good plus, bright with strong rifling. Rear sight graduated to 600 yards, serial number 6018. Original leather sight cover with two original screw studs on stock each side of rear sight. Number 22 stamped in top of butt stock at tang. One small screw missing from front of trigger guard as shown in photo. No cleaning rod inside butt. Uncommon early military firearm in Canada with only 2,500 reported available by Defending the Dominion. Antique firearm, no licence required to purchase or own.
