Wooden ammo box may be British Besa HMG in 8mm Mauser or will also fit .303 british ammunition in fabric belts. Outside dimensions 15 inches long, 8 inches high 4 3/8 inches wide. Very similar construction to US 1917A1 box for 30-06 but longer and without provision to fit onto 1917 tripod mount. Images of both shown for interest. This listing is for the longer box.
