Thomas Manton flintlock pistol

Lock plate marked Tho. Manton, London with tablet on top of barrel T. Manton PATENT. Maker is Thomas Manton a first cousin to well known firearms makers John and Joseph Manton and likely to have made very few firearms so surviving examples of his work are uncommon. Pistol circa 1817 - 1825. Heavy octagonal barrel 5 inches in length, 0.5 inch bore, 10 ¼ inch overall. Very nicely decorated with checkered wood grip, engraved metalwork and pineapple finial ahead of trigger guard. Original condition, not cleaned or otherwise altered. Antique firearm, no licence required to purchase or own.
