Classic Winchester 1894 First Model Sporting rifle. Comes with a letter from the Cody Firearms Museum authenticating manufacture Feb. 15, 1901. As such this is not a pre-1898 antique firearm for export to USA. In Canada this is a non-restricted rifle. 26 inch long octagonal barrel, full magazine, solid frame, straight plain walnut stock and forearm with crescent butt plate. Front sight is Marble 5S dovetail, carbine rear sight No. 44A. Tang folding peep sight is Lyman No. 1. Condition is NRA Good, almost Very Good. Bore clean and shiny. Bluing on barrel and tubular magazine is about 90% with wear to edges of octagonal, additional wear behind rear sight where the rifle would have been carried. Receiver top and bottom shows more wear with 20% blue remaining. Sides of receiver 80% with faint scratches or drag marks, possibly from being inserted into gun case. Bluing on lever worn off with only small amount still visible. Forearm cap bluing worn. Crescent butt plate has no blue finish remaining. Marking on top of barrel crisp and sharp. Walnut stock and forearm are in good condition with no evidence of cracks, repairs or refinishing. Calibre of this first model rifle is .32-40, making it less common. Rifle comes with well worn period canvas case and early wire cleaning rod including worn brass brush attached. Also available is two original boxes of .32-40 softpoint ammunition with only one round missing. Made by Canadian Industries Limited (CIL). Ammunition is available to Canadian purchaser only.
