German Gewehr 98

Standard German infantry rifle of the Great War. Mauser action with straight bolt handle. 7.92 x 57 (8mm Mauser). 1917 manufacture by Simson & Co., Suhl. All parts match except for bolt handle (bolt body) although cocking piece and safety match, as does trigger guard, floor plate, stock and front barrel band. Stock is marked with German proofs, also at wrist. Bore is dark with strong rifling. Stock is sound, no cracks. Very nice example.
