Interesting rifle with a long and varied history. Originally a BSA Mark 1* manufactured in 1900. Converted in 1907 at Enfield to SMLE Mark IV Converted status. Sent to Australia at beginning of WW1 and issued to the 3rd Military District (3MD). In 1919 declared an "Emergency Use” rifle and stamped EY. Australian conversion in 1937 to .22 Training Rifle No.2 Mark IV* with a Lithgow made .22 barrel, not sleeved, and bolt head stamped "22 No.2”. Rifle still retains the long range volley sights. Bore is very good in .22 LR.
