Description

Steel case would have a bronze or copper dummy projectile used for training and practice loading 105 Howitzer. When taken out of service the projectile was cut off for valuable scrap leaving only a ring at the mouth of the case as shown. Overall length 14 5/8 inches. Base faintly marked “Drill Cartridge 105mm Howitzer M2, over CKM 1944”. Steel case shows signs of being rusted with some pitting, most having been cleaned off. Very uncommon item.
