Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) issue leather case used throughout WWII for maps, documents and other materials. Dark leather expanding case with brass metal star on flap. Interior of case has 2 compartments with leather divider. Flap has Japanese characters believed to be the name of the owner Yamazaki (or Yamasaki) Tetsuo. Condition of case is original, slightly soiled, not cleaned. Leather is flexible with some stiffening so for display only. Shoulder strap is present. Back of case has name scratched into it, possibly the original souvenir owner. Contents are pictured and consist of a Japanese map and book as shown and are very likely original to the case. The map is Guam Bay (Omiya Bay), researched on February 17, 1944 by the General Staff Office. The book is entitled “A Rough Sketch of Hawaii”.
