Japanese Tsuba Iron 19th Century

Sword handguard in 4 lobed Mokko pattern. Early, simple design made of iron with pleasingly simple pattern. Decoratively edged with what appears to be brass alloy fastened flawlessly to the iron. Likely early 1800’s production. Size is 2 11/16 inches across the lobes.
