Original steel shell Dispatch or Despatch Rider helmet. Liner is British made by Backstay Standard, BS marked on liner, 1944 (44) dated, Size 7 1/4. Clear C broad arrow stamped in black paint on the steel shell as shown. No maker marking on shell. Complete, leather is supple and in great condition. This rare Canadian helmet model is detailed in Tin Lids by Roger Lucy. It was unpopular with troops due to close resemblance to German Fallschirmjager helmet, obvious in photo.
