Stielhandgranate 1916. Early model stick grenade with large canister that is 4 1/8 inches (105mm) tall and 2 7/8 inches (72mm) diameter. The canister explosive was ammonium nitrate hence a larger quantity was required for the explosive force. Empty an inert the canister does not unscrew from the handle. Some original stenciling visible as shown in photo. Original field grey paint remains on parts of the canister. Fuze marking 5 ½ Sek (seconds) stenciled into wooden handle. Cap is round and screws on tightly. Inside is ceramic ball, string and wire with a small ceramic ball at end. Very nice example.
