Early helmet body 1940 dated by General Steel Wares (GSW) of Toronto, Ontario and marked Mk 1, which at the time was the helmet body designation, not the helmet model. Combat grade manganese steel non-magnetic helmet body, chinstrap lug is riveted to the shell. No chinstrap with this specimen. No size marked on liner. The liner retention bolt is a simple bolt and not the dome type found on the later contract helmets.
