Sappers & Miners (Engineers) bayonet used with the Lancaster carbine. Post 1858 version with press stud spring fastened by slotted head screw. When the Sappers & Miners replaced the Lancaster carbine, stocks of this bayonet were give to the Medical Corps and Bandsmen. This appears to have come from the Bandsmen use as it’s well cared for and clearly polished clean of any markings on the spine of the blade and ricasso. Very good condition with bright quillback blade 24 inches long. Ricasso marked with Crown over S over 14. Only other visible mark is Birmingham proof on top of tang. No scabbard.
