In 1943, the U.S. Army shortened the M1905 bayonet to 10 inches blade length (25.4 cm). Model 1905 bayonets were recalled, blades cut down and reissued. These shortened M1905 bayonets were re-designated as M1905E1, also simply called the M1 bayonet. This specimen manufactured by RIA (Rock Island Arsenal) dated 1913. There are additional marks stamped into the left ricasso perhaps at the tome of conversion to M1 configuration. Original WWII condition with scabbard.
