British made by Horace Chavasse, Birmingham and ricasso marked with his last name CHAVASSE (the E being obscured by corrosion). Chavasse is a known exporter to the Confederacy in the US Civil War. Pommel is marked FTR over 56. Original condition with some staining and corrosion to the blade. Steel mounted leather scabbard is in very good condition.
