In 1943, the U.S. Army shortened the M1905 bayonet to 10 inches blade length (25.4 cm). Model 1905 bayonets were recalled, blades cut down and reissued. These shortened M1905 bayonets were re-designated as M1905E1 or simply M1. This specimen manufactured by SA (Springfield Armory) dated 1906, spear point blade, no conversion company marked on tang. Original WWII condition with scabbard.
