Original Mk III Cavalry Carbine, .577 Snider, 19 inch STEEL barrel. Lock clearly marked Crown/VR, Enfield 1870 dated. War Department stamps and proof marks throughout. Stock cartouche R.M. Enfield, Broad Arrow WD over 1. Also stamped on side of stock the numbers 11 over 2. Butt tang is marked with number 27. Bore is very good plus, bright with strong rifling. Comes with firing pin protector and chain. Rear sight graduated to 600 yards, WD marked, proofed and serial number 4488. The screw studs for leather sight cover have been removed. Two piece cleaning rod is not present on this specimen. An uncommon early military firearm in Canada with only 2,500 reported available by Defending the Dominion. Antique firearm, no licence required to purchase or own.
