No military marking, just Snider Patent on bolt. Lock marked by W. M. Cooper, Toronto. William M. Cooper was a gunsmith located at 69 Bay Street, Toronto from 1879 to 1889. This rifle is weighted in the butt by drilling 2 holes under the butt plate and filling with lead. The balance of the rifle offhand is superb and clearly intended for target shooting. A tang sight was fitted at some time, now removed. Wrist is slimmed and stippling added on stock for hand grip. Also stippled on butt plate. Bore is excellent and overall VG+ condition.
