British P1853 Artillery sword bayonet 2nd Type

Yataghan blade 576mm, overall 711mm with checkered leather grips similar to the Pattern 1856 infantry bayonet. Both the P1853 and P1856 bayonets commonlyhave a rivet that secures the latch spring but this example has a screw, which is perfectly acceptable but less commonly seen. This pattern is distinguished by a half inch groove cut in front of the mortise slot to accommodate the bayonet stud on the Pattern 1853 Carbine. Supplied with a steel scabbard marked RA (Royal Artillery) 33, F/16Bd. Crossguard is marked G.16.RA with 71 on the opposite side. Blake maker is Johann Bleckmann, Solingen and bears his bow and arrow trademark with BM stamped inside. Very good condition bayonet and interesting example not commonly seen.
