Brass mounted leather scabbard is the early type, manufactured 1853 – 1860, with separate frog stud and locket secured by indentations and shellac. Seam is on side of scabbard instead of on the back. Very good condition with marking stamped into leather below frog stud but is illegible, should be broad arrow WD. Correct scabbard for bayonet mounted on Pattern 1853 Enfield rifled musket.
