Description

Original British WW One Mark 1 helmet. Type B, non-magnetic manganese steel shell with rolled rim of mild steel, hence magnetic. Stamping in the helmet shell at the front appears to be S 143. Original leather chinstrap in worn condition, intact but tied at one end as a repair. Brass wire bail fastened with the usual split rivet distinctive of British made Mark 1 helmets. CAUTION, the liner of this helmet may contain asbestos. OK to display, do not wear.
