US Model 1917 bayonet for the US Model 1917 Enfield rifle. Manufactured by Winchester clearly marked W in circle dated 1917. Right side has flaming bomb over US, eagle head, bend mark. The eagle’s head is reversed in direction which is suspected to be a manufacturing error by Winchester and relatively rare. Crossguard is numbered 225 and the same number on top of scabbard locket. The Model 1917 bayonet fit both the US M17 Enfield rifle (30-06) and the British P14 rifle (303 British). This bayonet has belt loops ground off the scabbard and was carried on the belt in a web or leather frog for home front use. Scabbard has green finish leather and some maker markings that are unclear because they are painted over. Bayonet and scabbard in VG+ original condition.
