M5 bayonet for M1 Garand rifle made by J&D Tool Co. with the improved latch that led to the M5-A1 designation. Since the “A1” designation had not been finalized at the time this bayonet was produced it is simply marked M5-1 thereby putting production date circa 1956. Scabbard is USM8 manufactured by B.M. Co.
