Description

Original Mk III Cavalry Carbine, .577 Snider, 19 inch STEEL barrel. Lock clearly marked Crown/VR, Enfield 1870 dated. Military issue War Department stamps and proof marks throughout. WD Enfield stock cartouche is visible. Bore is good plus, bright with some rifling and light frosting. Heavily used rifle shows wear and tear. Lock works, strong spring but firing pin is broken. Rear sight graduated to 600 yards, serial number 7861.  Butt tang proofed and has WD broad arrow, number “21” stamped into wood stock above tang. Two original screw studs on stock each side of rear sight for leather cover which is a reproduction. Missing small screw at front of trigger guard. Uncommon early military firearm in Canada with only 2,500 reported available by Defending the Dominion. Nice example, well used, for display.
