Peabody Martini Model 1879 Siamese T-back bayonet

Manufactured by Steyr for the M1879 Peabody Martini rifle. While this rifle was primarily used by Romania there were about 2,000 exported to Siam (Thailand). A copy of the French M1874 Gras rifle bayonet but without step on the handgrip. 20 ½ inch blade and marked with the Steyr logo on the ricasso with date 1881. Non adjustable muzzle ring and crossguard is fastened with 2 rivets. Blade in very good condition. Ricasso has Steyr logo with STEYR 1881. Below that is the Kodchasri property mark of the Siam Defence Division.. Steel scabbard is blued in good condition with evidence of corrosion.
