Germany’s first metallic cartridge rifle. Introduced in 1875 for infantry use. Cal. 11 x 60R (.43 Mauser), single shot. Bore is very good, strong rifling and shine with signs of light frosty corrosion. This specimen dated 1875 year of production. Produced by Österreichischen Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft in Steyr, Austria (Austrian Arms Factory Society OEWG) and marked Öesterr. Waffeb. Ges on top of the chamber with the king’s cypher crown “FW” below. Steel butt tang has regimental marking and rack number. Serial numbers match with the last 2 digits repeated on small parts throughout. Proof markings still visible on wooden stock and butt marked 40 over GDO as shown in photo. Comes with 1871 sword bayonet made by E. Wilhelm, Suhl that fits the rifle very well, no scabbard. Antique rifle, no license required to purchase.
