Prussian Model 1871 Short Rifle (Jagerbusche)

Single barrel band, curved finger rest at grip and shorter 29 3/8 inch barrel stepped at muzzle. This rifle mounts the Model 1871 sword bayonet on a lug on the right side of the nose cap. Cal. 11 x 60R (.43 Mauser), single shot. Bore is very good, strong rifling and shine with signs of light frosty corrosion. This specimen dated 1875 year of production. Produced by Österreichischen Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft in Steyr, Austria (Austrian Arms Factory Society OEWG) and marked Öesterr. Waffeb. Ges on top of the chamber with the king’s cypher crown “FW” below. Steel butt tang has regimental marking and rack number. Serial numbers match with the last 2 digits repeated on small parts throughout. Proof markings still visible on wooden stock and butt marked 40 over GDO as shown in photo.
