Receiver right side marked Crown/VR Enfield 1880 with viewer mark and III over I so it was manufactured by Enfield as a .577/450 Martini Mk III. Marking is obscured by corrosion and a bit of a clean up. Left side of receiver shows conversion information Crown/VR Enfield 1894 with viewer mark and M.M. 303 AC III indicating conversion in 1894 by Enfield to Martini Metford Artillery Carbine in .303. Stock shows lots of handling, wear and tear. Missing cleaning rod. Cartouche still visible on butt and has a brass butt disk with local unit initials D.E.E.D. and RA for Royal Artillery. Bore is bright with rifling remaining. Because of .303 calibre this is a firearm and requires a PAL to purchase.
