Description

Enfield 1916 produced rifle taken into Australian ownership. Receiver marked D broad arrow D Australian ownership mark. Refurbished for WWII use. Bolt does not match receiver. Brass middle band. Bore is dark with some corrosion, strong rifling. Wooden butt is marked profusely: MA, Lithgow, SMLE. Dated 1942. Repair marking R and 6/45. Appears to have been through repair on two separate dates, 1942 and 1945. Comes with military web sling marked but not legible. A thoroughly Australian WWII use SMLE rifle.
