I. Hollis & Sons – London Dangerous Game Rifle (Circa 1850). .80 calibre (bore is .785). Hexagon Damascus Barrel is 26.75 inches length. Bore is rifled and appears good plus condition. Single fixed rear sight with 2 folding leaves out to 300 yards. Hair line crack at wrist has a period repair. Circular cartouche on lock plate “Makers to Her Majesty’s War Department”. Rifle is complete and lock is tight and fully functional. Scratched on right side of butt stock: “A. Moore Niagara Falls Ont, Canada”. A fine example of an “Elephant Rifle” from a well known maker. Very attractive pricing. Antique firearm, no licence required to purchase or own.
