Description

Original fibre shell Dispatch or Despatch Rider crash helmet. Canadian contract to British firm Backstay Standard, BS marked on liner, 1944 (44) dated, Size 6 7/8. C broad arrow white stencil inside shell. Original Canadian camouflage cover with scrim, condition as shown. Complete, leather is supple and in great condition. This uncommon Canadian helmet model is detailed in Tin Lids by Roger Lucy. It was unpopular with troops due to close resemblance to German Fallschirmjager helmet.
