Original Imperial German WW1 nickel plated parade bayonet. Second pattern, newer model or n/A (neuer Art) with two piece wooden grip. Made to fit the GEW 98 World War One German infantry rifle. Maker marked with logo of Carl Eickhorn, back to back sitting squirrels without the letters CE below. John Walter in “The sword and bayonet makers of Imperial Germany” mentions this as a variant of the original 1906 patented trademark. Pipeback/quillback style blade in excellent condition. Steel mounted leather scabbard is in very good condition but missing the frog stud. An iconic and very interesting German WW1 bayonet in exceptional condition.
