Second pattern, newer model or n/A (neuer Art) with two piece wooden grip. Made to fit the GEW 98 World War One German infantry rifle. Maker marked C.G. Haenel, Suhl. Crossguard unmarked. Interesting pipeback blade. Steel mounted leather scabbard with leather frog is in good condition but the leather has shrunk over the years and the bayonet does not seat fully as shown in one of the photos. Comes with regimental knot or trodel which is attached to the scabbard.
