Second pattern, newer model or n/A (neuer Art) with two piece wooden grip. Made to fit the GEW 98 World War One German infantry rifle. Arsenal made at Erfurt. Crossguard regimentally marked 20.R.3.92. Scabbard locket regimentally marked differently 100.R.2.210. Spine well marked with cypher of Willhelm II and dated 1900 (00). Pipeback/quillback style blade in very good condition. Steel mounted leather scabbard is in good condition with stitches in seam coming apart sligntly as shown in photo. An iconic and very interesting German WW1 bayonet.
