German 1898 a/A bayonet without scabbard

First pattern of the Model 1898 bayonet with one piece grip known as the a/A (alter Art – Older Model). Chip out of wooden grip as shown in photo. Made to fit GEW 98 WWI infantry rifle. Maker appears to be Simson & Co., Suhl. Spine marked with Crown over L proof. Crossguard regimentally marked 36.R.653 with what looks like 98 overstamp. Pipeback/quillback style blade in very good condition. No scabbard.
