Trench art shell casing made from French 75mm WW One brass casing 13 ½ inches tall. Very skillfully done and signed by artist August Strotbek. Die Wacht am Rhein is an early patriotic Prussian anthem meaning Watch on the Rhine. The USA motif shows an American doughboy in great detail with a rifle at the shoulder and the US stars and stripes flying in the background. Below that is the date 1918 – 1919 indicating the years the US forces were in Imperial Germany including army of occupation time. Very unique and researchable. Museum grade.
