Patterned after English fowling guns and given to important Indian Chiefs by the British military from 1790 to 1830. Slim profile, brass furniture with light engraving and decoration including boar’s head and hunting horn on the tail of the lock plate and top of butt plate. Thumb piece on the wrist of stock is a silver, oval shape with an Indian chief and a bow and quiver design. Maker marked Wheeler & Son with Board of Ordnance mark on lock. Fox in a circle stamp on the top of the barrel. .60 cal., 36 inch barrel with British proofs near the breech. Muzzle end of stock is broken as shown in photo and one ramrod pipe is included loose.
