Description

British manufacture by Wilkinson and supplied to Canada for use on the Martini Metford rifle. Reportedly only 1,000 made and withdrawn from service almost as soon as they were issued since the Martini rifle was replaced by the Lee Metford/Enfield bolt action rifle. Blade condition is very good plus. Ricasso marked crown over VR, Wilkinson, dated 3 ’94.  Opposite side marked WD, bend test mark and Wilkinson 3 line proof. A marking on the crossguard shows M&D  593, Canadian Militia & Defence, bayonet number 593. Comes with correct steel mounted leather scabbard, unmarked, in very good condition.
