Description
Barrel length 42 inches, .75 inch bore. Lock plate TOWER with Crown over GR and Board of Ordnance mark. Teardrop frizzen spring end. Strong spring, positive half and full cock, release is poor and needs interior lockwork. Left sideplate is flat without tail and may be a period replacement. Maritimes Militia muskets were made up locally and this specimen shows some lesser workmanship around the lock plate reflecting this. Proof stamped into stock where tail would be. Butt stock has Crown/GR stamping on right side. Left side is deeply branded M over St. John for the New Brunswick Militia in St. John circa 1811. Barrel attached to stock with round pins. Four ramrod pipes, 1 and 2 are flared. Steel ramrod. Stock has wrist escutcheon plate and nosecap. Two clear proofs on top of barrel. Bore condition is clear, severely corroded. We have not removed the barrel or lock for inspection. Sold as is.
