British Pattern 1839 Percussion Musket

The Pattern 1839 Musket was the first percussion infantry long arm to be widely issued by the British military and was in reality an updated Brown Bess India Pattern. Eg. Third Model Brown Bess. Many of the P1839 percussion muskets were made from Brown Bess India Pattern surplus parts. Overall length 59 inches, barrel is 39 inches, .075 inch calibre (smoothbore). Lovell pattern bayonet catch and original ramrod. Lock is VR marked Tower manufacture, not dated. British proofs on barrel. BO with arrow board of ordnance mark faintly visible on right side of butt stock. Letters appear to be W.O. stamped on left side of stock grip. Stock has an old repair at the grip and is shown in photos. Some stock pins have been replaced with modern steel pins. Original nipple protector, leather pad is worn and loose.Bore is smoothbore, shiny and remarkably clear. A very nice example of this uncommon percussion musket. Antique, no licence required to purchase or own.
