Second pattern, newer model or n/A (neuer Art) with two piece wooden grip. Made to fit the GEW 98 World War One German infantry rifle. Interesting pipeback blade. Manufactured by C.G. Haenel Suhl in 1906. Spine shows cypher of Friedrich August III of Saxony. Leather frog in very good condition, regimentally marked, hard to read but appears to be “18.B.R.98”. Overall in very good condition. The leather scabbard is in good condition and solid, not floppy with a few cracks shown in photo and one small piece of leather chipped away. Comes with original frog.
