Austrian 1849 Saber blade socket bayonet

Used on the Austrian Model 1849 Kammerbuchse (chambered rifle). Marked with Vienna Arsenal mark, 6 armed star. Socket has long “L” shaped mounting slot and heavy adjustable rear locking ring. Many of these bayonets were used on Austrian rifles purchased by the US Ordnance Department for the US Civil War. Blade length 23 5/8 inches and fullered on both sides with false edge extending about 6 inches from tip. Overall length 28 inches. Socket length 4 ¼ inches. Muzzle ring is 24mm. Original condition with some staining from spots of corrosion. No scabbard.
