Description

First produced for the French Mannilcher-Berthier cavalry carbine of 1890 the pattern was continued for the 1892 and 1916 artillery carbine. This example is is the third variation circa 1916 for WW1 use with quillon shortened. Wood grips. Steel scabbard in very good condition with minor bumps but no dents. Some original paint remaining on scabbard and it is not marked or numbered. Blade is original condition, unsharpened, maker marks on ricasso and serial number on shortened quillon. Overall 512mm, blade 400mm, muzzle ring diameter 13mm.
