Bayonet for Lee Metford or Long Lee Enfield rifles. Mk I Second type with cleanout hole in handle and hole in pommel to take cleaning rod. Clearly maker marked SANDERSONSHEFFIELD and dated 8 ‘ 98. WD marked on opposite side with proof and bend mark. Blade in very good condition. Complete with scabbard in good condition. Scabbard frog stud unit marked 15 over 86. Leather is marked broad arrow over WD with proof and date markings visible.
