Original WW1 ersatz bayonet with brass handle and correct scabbard and frog. Carter classifies this as an EB21 ersatz pattern. This bayonet was evidently captured and used as a presentation piece. Handle engraved “To Sir Stephen Penfold, From Major J.K. MacKay DSO, Somme, Sept. 16th 1916”. Very researchable and Major MacKay is a prominent Canadian. Overall Very Good plus condition including blade. Original black paint on scabbard, very good condition, no dents. Complete with leather frog.
