British 1813 Indian Contract Flintlock pistol

Frequently referred to as Indian Allies or 1813 Indian Contract pistols this is an example of the British Ordnance department using various Birmingham based manufacturers to produce a British Ordnance pistol that was given to the indigenous people in Canada to strengthen Britian’s defence of Canada during the War of 1812. Lock maker marked Ketland Walker & Co. with crown and arrow viewer’s mark. Lock has upgraded hammer. Barrel 9 inches, overall 15 inches. Bore .65 inch smoothbore, clear with signs of corrosion. Top of barrel has 2 clear British proofs and one on barrel tang. Strong spring and works well on full and half cock. Very researchable and uniquely Canadian.
