Predates the well known 1882/1885/1890 patterns. First pattern Cavalry Trooper’s sword with Maltese Cross pattern piercing to the handguard bowl. Also the only pattern to have double sword knot slots in the bowl. Spine marked MOLE, Birmingham. No regimental markings on sword or scabbard. Blade is very good condition. Scabbard has usual patina expected of bright steel from that era. Uncommon sword pattern.
