Model 1861 percussion rifled musket was the standard infantry weapon of the US Civil war. Lock plate has eagle over US visible and maker marked Remington, Ilion, NY. Dated 1863. Stock is very good with WR marking on right side butt stock ahead of patch box. Box contains one minie ball lead bullet and 3 fired percussion caps. Butt plate tang marked US over 20. Left side of barrel marked STEEL R.K.A. inspector mark and wooden stock has two cartouches visible. Original cupped (tulip shaped) ramrod. Antique, no license required to purchase.
